Title V Inspections

Oceanside Septic can perform informal or formal Title V Inspections (septic inspections) for real estate transfers, additions or renovations, and the required 3-year inspections for condominium complexes in accordance with Massachusetts Law.

We can do minor repairs and adjustments (such as adding PVC tees, clearing clogged pipes, replacing cracked or broken covers, or adding risers) at the time of the Title v inspection.

Repairs requiring a permit (such as replacing the D-box) can be done in a couple of days prior to backfilling the system.

When are on-site Title V system inspections required?*

Usually Title V Inspections are required when:

  • When properties are sold, divided or combined.
  • When there is a change in use or an expansion.
  • When MassDEP or the local Board of Health requires an inspection.
  • Title 5 requires inspections for large systems, shared systems, and condominiums on a periodic basis.
  • Systems located in cities and towns with MassDEP-approved inspection programs are required to comply with local inspection requirements.

There are exceptions requirements listed here. No inspection is required if the owner has signed an enforceable agreement with the Board of Health to upgrade the system, connect to a sanitary sewer, or connect to a shared system within two years.
